WORLD RECORDS TUMBLE AT MASTERS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP IN HOBART
“Three world records have been broken at the Australian Masters Swimming Championship in Hobart, with the prospect of more to come as the week-long carnival wraps up today,” spokesperson Dr Peter Tucker said.
“Victorian Dorothy Dickey smashed the 800 metre freestyle world record for 85-89 year olds, while New South Wales’ swimming sensation, Clary Munns, 71, bagged world records in the women’s 400 metre medley and 50 metre backstroke.
“The championships have been a huge success for the 600 competitors with dozens of Australian records set, but these world records are the real icing on the cake,” Dr Tucker said.
