Progress chart shows alarming result of Liberal cuts

Posted on

The latest Tasmanian health progress chart has revealed patients waiting for elective surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital has increased by a massive 41.9 per cent.

“The Liberals promised to fix the elective surgery waiting list but now we are seeing proof that it’s getting dramatically worse,” Shadow Health Minister Rebecca White said.

“This clearly shows you cannot rip more than $210 million out of our health system without dire consequences.

“The reality is Michael Ferguson is expecting Tasmanian hospitals to do more and perform better with less.

“A 41.9% increase in the number of people waiting for surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital is an alarming statistic.

“The Liberals promised to commit an additional $16 million to elective surgery, where has it gone?

“Michael Ferguson’s proposed health reforms will see more pressure put on the RHH and LGH but without any additional funding.

“How can the Minister expect our hospitals to perform better without adequate support?

“It’s obvious the Liberal Government’s cuts to the broader health system are having a ripple effect throughout our hospitals.

“No amount of spin from Mr Ferguson can change the fact that key indicators are getting worse under his watch.”
