Will Hodgman’s admission that the ‘status quo’ for Forestry Tasmania was ‘unsustainable’ is startling proof of Liberals’ broken promises to the industry.
“Will Hodgman promised not use taxpayers’ money to prop up Forestry Tasmania but he has, and now he has confirmed the business is teetering on collapse despite his promise to rebuild the industry,” Mr Green said.
“Our belief is that the status quo is not sustainable”
Will Hodgman ABC Radio, April 21, 2015.
“That is the complete opposite of what Mr Hodgman has always been saying in relation to Forestry Tasmania.
“He must think Tasmanians have very short memories.
“The Liberals’ forestry promises were a lie from the start and now there’s no denying it.
“Will Hodgman deliberately misled Tasmanians and deceived the industry by claiming he had all the answers.
“Labor worked extremely hard and supported the forest industry to the hilt and still does.
“Mr Hodgman has done absolutely nothing to rebuild the forest industry.
“Despite ripping up the Tasmanian Forest Agreement and all their puerile rhetoric, the Liberals have not provided a single extra log to the industry.
“What happened to Mr Hodgman’s promise that Forestry Tasmania would trade its way out of financial difficulties under the Liberals?
“How are Mr Hodgman and Resources Minister Paul Harriss going to talk their way out of this?”
Bryan Green MP Labor Leader
