Green fails Tasmania

Posted on

Labor Leader, Bryan Green, has failed to stand up for Tasmania by not meeting with Federal Labor Leader Bill Shorten today to “bang the table” about Federal Labor’s sell-out of Tasmania’s salmon industry.

Mr Green claimed he was opposed to the Federal Labor position and promised to “bang” Mr Shorten’s table about it, but it seems he’s too weak and ineffectual to actually meet Mr Shorten and tell him to back off.

Either that, or Mr Green simply has no influence when it comes to Federal Labor.

In contrast, by working cooperatively with the Federal Government, the Hodgman Liberal Government has delivered $60 million for irrigation, more than $200 million for freight equalisation, $700 million for infrastructure, and an additional $23 million for elective surgery.

In addition, the Liberal Senators actually voted against the Greens’ salmon inquiry.

Tasmania’s salmon industry is one of our most sustainable and successful industries. It’s appalling that it’s now the next target on the Greens’ list of industries to shut down, along with forestry and mining. What makes it even worse is that Tasmania’s Labor Senators joined with the Greens to establish a witch-hunt into the industry, which is nothing more than a show trial orchestrated to tear the industry down.

In the spirit of Mr Shorten, here’s the unfortunate zinger of reality: Bryan Green’s cop out shows that he’s more likely to be hiding under the table than thumping it when it comes to supporting the salmon industry.
