Ferguson loses another health chief

Posted on

Matthew Daly’s departure from the role of acting CEO of THO South leaves the Government with a leadership void at the top of the health system.

Shadow Health Minister Rebecca White thanked Mr Daly for his work and wished him well for the next chapter in his career.

“Matthew Daly’s departure comes as Michael Ferguson embarks on reform across Tasmania. I imagine the timing is not ideal for Mr Ferguson,” Ms White said.

Mr Daly follows former THO North CEO John Kirwan, who left his position in December last year.

“Michael Ferguson cannot ignore the fact he is losing senior people at a crucial time for Tasmania’s health system.

“The loss of key leadership figures in the health system at a time of major health reform will inevitably create uncertainty about the future direction for our state’s major hospitals.

“And once again the Liberal Government has made an important announcement late in the day, on the eve of a public holiday.

“This is not a government willing to face scrutiny.”
