Tomorrow Tasmania’s top tourism operators will be showing why a record number of travellers are choosing to discover our state at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Adelaide.

Tasmania is represented across 25 of the 29 categories, from Major Tourism Attractions, Port Arthur Historic Site, to Luxury Accommodation, Saffire Freycinet and Adventure Tourism, Roaring 40s Kayaking.

This year Rob Pennicott is in the running to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for both the Pennicott Wilderness Journeys and Bruny Island Cruises.

The prestigious Hall of Fame trophy is awarded to entrants who win the same category for three consecutive years.

These awards are an incredible opportunity to celebrate and thank our tourism operators, who have given a million travellers many more reasons to visit our island state.

It is also a chance to build on our national and international reputation, which was bolstered by the Lonely Planet Best in Travel accolade last year and the Chinese President’s visit.

Tasmania has had many standout achievers at these annual awards, and last year won three gold awards, two silver and three bronze.

I wish all Tasmanian entrants the very best of luck and thank them for putting Tasmania at the top of the must-see list of so many travelers.
Will Hodgman, Premier Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
