Vital training contracts going interstate

Posted on

The Liberal Government must assure the future of valuable training provider TOOL is secure.

Shadow Minister for Justice Lara Giddings said TOOL provides extremely valuable support for some of Tasmania’s most vulnerable young people.

“TOOL has lost vital training contracts and has no certainty going forward.

“The Liberals are giving with one hand and taking away with another.

“While the Government claims its election commitment to TOOL remains intact, it’s being undermined by a cut to its training funding.

“The organisation missed out on around $400,000 in vital training funds.

“The Liberal Government must explain why TasTAFE and its training partners have been so severely disadvantaged by the latest round of training grants.

“Big contracts are going interstate while TAFE deals with harsh budget cuts. It makes a mockery of the Liberals’ ‘buy local’ promise.”
