Sir Guy Green to step down as Chair of Ten Days

Posted on

Sir Guy Green has been invited to become and has been appointed Patron of the Tasmanian
International Arts Festival presented by Ten Days, in recognition of the vital role he has played in the
development of the organisation.

In the wake of this announcement he will step down as Chairman of Ten Days at the end of this
year’s festival.

Sir Guy said he has enjoyed his work with Ten Days as a member of the Board for the past 11 and
half years immensely.

“However it is now time for me to step down as it moves into the next phase of its development,” Sir
Guy said.

Sir Guy, who recently also stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tasmanian
Museum and Art Gallery, said he was still committed to his work in the arts and other fields
including Tasmania’s Antarctic endeavors and promoting Tasmania’s business and cultural relations
with China.

“With the advent of treasure houses like MONA and the redeveloped TMAG and what is coming
close to being a wall to wall programme of magnificent festivals and events throughout the year it is
clear the arts in Tasmania have never been stronger or more vibrant than they are today,” Sir Guy
said.

“Since the first festival in 2001, Ten Days has played a significant role in encouraging those
developments.

Ten Days is a leader in the state’s creative industry, adapting and evolving in order to continue to
inspire artists and entertain Tasmanian audiences and I look forward to continuing to play a role in
this exciting journey.”

The Minister for the Arts, the Hon. Vanessa Goodwin paid tribute Sir Guy and welcomed his
appointment as Patron.

“Sir Guy Green has made an incredible contribution to the arts in Tasmania through his involvement
with organisations such as Ten Days and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery,” Ms Goodwin said.

“He has devoted an enormous amount of time and effort into growing the arts and cultural industry
in our state. We thank him for his efforts and look forward to his ongoing engagement with the
industry.”

Incoming Chairman of Ten Days, Scott Dawkins said the invitation by the Board to appoint Sir Guy
Patron was simple.

“After many years of loyal service, it is understandable that Sir Guy wants to step back from the
responsibility of his board role, however we did not want to lose our connection with our chairman
and happily he has accepted this new role,” Mr Dawkins said.

Mr Dawkins is a consultant chartered accountant with Deloitte and has been on the Board of Ten
Days since 2006.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Sir Guy for his efforts and look forward to working
closely with him in his new role as Patron,” Mr Dawkins said.
