To all our supporters who believe that Kunanyi / Mt Wellington is better without a cable car, we are writing to update you and ask for a small contribution to continue the fight in the Tasmanian Planning Commission (TPC).
The Wellington Park Management Trust has put forward an amendment to enlarge the Pinnacle Specific Area. This was done specifically to accommodate the Mount Wellington Cable Car plans but the Trust continues to deny this obvious fact
.
We are contesting the Trust’s decision to proceed with the amendment in the TPC and have engaged the services of a lawyer, Adam Beeson, through the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO).
Our aim is to raise around $2000 to $3000 to cover the legal costs. We cannot know exactly how much is needed but the EDO will keep any extra funds raised against possible further work in the future. If there is no further work then the EDO is considered a great organisation in its own right and a group worthy of financial support. The EDO will advise us when we are nearing our target.
Please help spread this message to your likeminded friends. Options to donate to EDO Tas are:
1. Online donations through our secure online facility – www.givenow.com.au/edotas. There is an option to leave a message with donations – we would ask that any ROCC contributors include a message saying “Cable Car”. Receipts are emailed immediately following a donation.
2. Donate by direct deposit into our bank account (BSB: 633-000 A/C: 140-268-558). Anyone donating in this way should send us an email ([email protected]) with their name and address, so we can send a receipt. The email should include the heading “Donation for Cable Car”
3. Donate by sending a cheque, payable to “EDO (Tas) Gift Fund”. Donors should write “Donation for Cable Car” on the back of the cheque.
Any donation no matter how small will help spread the load and all donations are tax deductable.
