Pressure mounts on Education Minister
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff’s incompetent performance in Question Time this morning casts doubt over whether has a handle on his portfolio.
Shadow Education Minister Michelle O’Byrne said Mr Rockliff’s responses to questions highlighted a lack of understanding.
“The Minister revealed he had no idea about a bungled payroll issue in his own department and flailed through a series of questions about school budgets,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“Jeremy Rockliff didn’t know whether he was coming or going when he was asked about the budget allocated for non-government schools.
“The Minister has to explain whether non-government schools have indeed received more funding while public schools are having their budgets slashed.
“Not only is the Minister breaking huge promises when it comes to investing in education, but he’s unable to answer simple questions in his portfolio.”
