On his 2015 tour, World Virtuoso Matthew Fagan will perform music from his newest CD Ukuleleland, a stunning world music album recorded in Kansas USA. UKULELELAND takes fans on a fun journey from African dance, to wild gypsy dance, Cuban, Latin and Celtic music and even rocking out Cajun tunes.
Matthew is a regular hit at Australian National Ukulele Festivals including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Melbourne, Central Coast, Newcastle Ukulele Festivals and the Deniliquin Uke Muster. Audiences are continually amazed, reinspired, and even become converted fans of the Ukulele after seeing Matthew’s performance on the Ukulele.
A show with Matthew would not be complete without Matthew performing on guitar. Matthew is leading exponent of performing on Australian Custom made Instruments, including an intriguing handmade James Keith 10 String Spanish Classical Guitar, an amazing instrument with four extra base strings which sounds similar to a harp and a David Churchill Steel String Guitar.
In the guitar component of his show, Matthew presents new and familiar works and highlights of Spanish & Classical Music from his new American recorded CD’s, Virtuoso. Matthew is renowned for his virtuosity and versatility on guitar, always suprising audiences with his original arrangements and compositions with a magical repertoire which crosses from Celtic, Latin, Folk, Blues, World Music & Contemporary music.
A highlight of Matthew’s performance is his virtuosic hit rendition of J.S Bach’s Toccata on Celtic Steel String where his recording and hands appeared on the climax episode of the Final episode of series one on the Australian ABC TV1 Television Production “A Moody Christmas” http://youtu.be/NBHY4wdDHys
The performance also highlights Matthew’s 10 String Guitar Celtic arrangements that he arranged when touring with Billy Connolly.

Matthew’s Ukulele workshops can include:-
– complete right hand fingerstyle development for ukulele from beginner to advanced. Covering fingerstyle influenced by Folk/country/ and traditional genres as in styles of Merle Travis / Chet Atkins /and Tommy Emmanuel.
-Banjo rolls, Bluegrass and Flamenco guitar technique as applied to fingerstyle guitar including Flamenco strumming techniques i.e. rasguedeo advanced rhythms.
-Flat picking techniques as in Traditional bluegrass and gypsy jazz (Django Reinhardt) styles.
-How to create your own chord melody arrangments and chord melody development.
