The Tasmanian Greens are celebrating International Women’s Day by hosting the Inaugural Greens International Women’s Day Awards on Wednesday the 11th of March.
Australian Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne and Member for Denison Cassy O’Connor MP – the Greens first ever Minister for Women – will be among the speakers at the event, aimed at honouring the past, present and future women of the world’s first Greens party.
“As the world’s oldest Greens party, the Tasmanian Greens have a rich history of outspoken and inspirational women and we are proud to honour those who came before us on International Women’s Day,” event organiser, Alice Giblin, said.
“The theme of International Women’s Day 2015 is ‘Make It Happen’ and we see that strength and tenacity daily in Green women like Senator Christine Milne.”
“We are proud of all our Green women; the past, present and future leaders within our Party.”
“The young women of the Tasmanian Greens mean that the future shines bright for this state,” Ms Giblin said.
