Bryan Green fails North-West again
The claims today by the Leader of the Opposition in Question Time were totally hypocritical.
The problems experienced by Collins Contracting are a direct result of the collapse of the forest industry under Labor and the Greens and the attack on the North West mining industry by radical environmentalists encouraged by the Labor-Green accord.
Collins Contracting made a number of applications for assistance under the previous government while Mr Green was the responsible Minister – once in 2011 and twice in 2013 – without getting any help whatsoever.
On the 7th of February 2014, Mr Collins gave up on Bryan Green and wrote directly to the then Premier – but didn’t even get the courtesy of a response.
Since the State election the Liberal Government has been working to undo the damage to forestry and mining and to assist contractors like Collins.
Collins Contracting is a roading and silvicultural operation and does not qualify for the current harvesting assistance program.
For Mr Green to use Collins Contracting for cheap political points when he repeatedly failed them under his watch is reprehensible.
The Government will continue to develop options to re-build all affected parts of the industry.
