A call for Help! Mersey Community Care is seeking new volunteers!
Mersey Community Care Association is having a Volunteer Recruitment and Open Day on Friday 6 March, at the premises at 167 Steele Street, Devonport, in the hope of recruiting more volunteers to help in the provision of services to clients and their carers.
The President of the organisation, Ron Pankiv, who has been a volunteer of the organisation for the past 5 years, said “It is vital that the organisation continues to actively recruit new volunteers to ensure that our services can continue to assist frail older and younger disabled people, to remain living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.”
Mr Pankiv, said “The recruitment of volunteers is critical for the operations of Mersey Community Care, as the organisation provides services for the care of approximately 1300 clients and their carers, living in the Devonport, Latrobe, Kentish and Central Coast Municipalities.”
He went on to say “Mersey Community Care is funded under the Home and Community Care Program (HACC), to provide Transport, Minor Home Maintenance, Spring Cleaning and Social Support Services, to both clients and their carers.” Mr Pankiv also said “The organisation is dedicated to the continued growth in services to ensure that quality services can continue to be offered to the ageing Tasmanian population.”
Operations Manager, Kathryn Edmunds said “The Recruitment and Open Day provides members of the public with an opportunity to come into the organisation and talk to both volunteers and staff about the service and what we provide. “Ms Edmunds also said “Volunteering is a win/win opportunity for both volunteers and clients, because the client receives great services and the volunteers have the opportunity to give something back to their community”.
Mr Pankiv added that “The day will include practical demonstrations of equipment and resources, a free sausage sizzle and door prize for one lucky person!”
The Recruitment and Open Day starts at 11.00am and concludes at 2.00pm.
