Today, we officially welcome more than 4,000 international students studying in Tasmania this year and wish them every success in their endeavours.
Tasmania has a proud history of attracting and supporting international students, with students from more than 60 countries currently studying in our state.
Tasmania is an ideal place for international students to study, with our schools providing the best possible opportunity for students to thrive and reach their full potential within a welcoming community.
International students also love the opportunity to study in a safe state with so many unique experiences outside the school gates.
We gain so much in return from our international students, with each bringing with them their own culture and languages which enhance the cultural diversity of our schools and communities and teach our students so much more than they can learn from a book or online.
By learning alongside international students, Tasmanian students have an opportunity to make global connections and gain insight and understanding of other countries and international issues.
Today’s event, organised by Study Tasmania, is a fantastic opportunity for our international and local students to share international food, entertainment, activities and an expo.
I welcome each and every one of our international students to Tasmania and wish them the very best during the study and stay in our state.
