Rene Hidding brought to heel over Bruny Island blunder
Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding has been brought to heel following his blunder which saw Bruny Island’s second ferry taken off the run.
“Rene Hidding has been rolled by his Liberals colleagues who sniffed yet another political storm in the wind,” Shadow Infrastructure Minister Craig Farrell said today.
“It is another embarrassing backflip from a Government that so often acts without thinking of the consequences.
“Rene Hidding hopefully now understands the importance of the second ferry service for Bruny Island during the peak tourism season.
“Mr Hidding should apologise for the angst he has caused locals, visitors and tourism operators.
“He has also damaged Bruny Island’s reputation as an accessible and unique island experience.
“Mr Hidding should now reveal what the additional start-up costs will be to reintroduce the service.”
