I commend members of the Tasmanian Police Service for making this sensible decision to vote to accept an 18 month pay freeze.

This means that, as we committed, we will quarantine frontline policing from additional budget savings measures as we continue to fix the budget mess.

In particular, I congratulate Police Association Secretary Pat Allen for his leadership, maturity and constructive approach over this issue.
