THIRTEEN councils in the electorate of Lyons will receive more than $7.7 million for service delivery from the next round of the Federal Government’s Financial Assistance Grant Program.
Federal Lyons MP Eric Hutchinson said that the money coming to Lyons was part of $575 million announced nationally today for councils around Australia as a third quarterly payment under the Financial Assistance program.
“The great thing about today’s funding is that councils are free to spend this untied grant money according to local priorities including for infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects,’’ Mr Hutchinson said.
“I am looking forward to seeing our local councils target local priorities with this funding.’’
Lyons Councils to receive money are:
Break O’Day, $656,200; Brighton Council, $404,942; Central Highlands Council, $568,205; Derwent Valley Council, $488, 129; Glamorgan Spring Bay, $322,693; Kentish Council, $646,655; Latrobe Council, $353,284; Meander Valley Council, $1,067,771; Northern Midlands Council, $906,272; Sorell Council, $577,902; Southern Midlands Council, $808,443; Tasman Council, $230,162; West Tamar Council, $701, 326.
