Lambie works to ensure Tasmanian NBN roll out is on track
Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie yesterday meet with Federal Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull (see Pics attached) in order to ensure that the NBN rollout in Tasmania was occurring as fast as possible.
“It was a pleasure to meet again with Mr Turnbull and discuss the NBN roll out in Tasmanian. I’ve had a number of enquiries to my office about the delivery and cost of broadband Internet connection in Tasmania, so I asked if Minister Turnbull if he would meet with me.
I was glad that he invited me to his office and briefed me on the latest efforts in Tasmania to install NBN. I appreciate that he inherited a broadband mess and had to solve a number of large problems created by the previous government. ”said Senator Lambie.
“I’m confident that the roll out will be completed in Tasmania by 2017, as indicated by Minister Turnbull, however I believe its now time to closely examine the cost that people, businesses and organisations like schools, have to pay to hook up and use the new technology.” said Senator Lambie.
“Mr Turnbull kindly offered to have his department answer questions and take any complaints that Tasmanians may have with their NBN rollout. If people would like to enquire about the timing of the NBN Rollout in their community – and how much it will cost to use the new technology, I urge them to contact my office.
With the support from Mr Turnbull and his staff, I’ll make sure that Tasmanians receive the latest information about the delivery of NBN. This technology will create better connections between Tasmanians and the rest of the world.
It will open up exciting new opportunities for job creation and new learning. I want to put as much pressure as I can on this Government to have NBN installed as quickly and as cheaply as possible in all Tasmanian communities.” said Senator Lambie.
