Preparations for the Dawn Service to mark the Centenary of ANZAC Day at Kingston Beach are proceeding smoothly, with Kingston Beach RSL expecting around 5,000 people to attend this year’s Dawn Service in the biggest ANZAC Day event ever hosted at Kingston Beach.
Senator Catryna Bilyk and the Member for Franklin, Julie Collins MP, recently met with organisers from the Kingston Beach RSL to discuss how preparations are proceeding.
Funding of $18,500 was recommended by the Federal Member for Franklin, Julie Collins MP, for the event and allocated by the Government under the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program.
“I am pleased I was able to assist Kingston Beach RSL in applying for the ANZAC Centenary Local Grant,” Ms Collins said.
“The Kingston Beach RSL has worked extremely hard over the last 3 years preparing for this event will be a fitting local tribute to mark the Centenary of ANZAC,” Senator Bilyk said.
The organisers are extremely pleased with the progress of preparations. Construction of the commemorative memorial is complete and ready for installation in the coming weeks before being officially unveiled on ANZAC Day.
Shuttle Bus services will run from Kingston to Kingston Beach, with maps being published in the Kingborough Chronicle in the weeks leading up to the event. Metro will also increase the number of buses to Hobart on the Day to help people to attend the ANZAC Day March in Hobart later in the day.
Local businesses have also been extremely generous in their support of the event.
