Amy Cure World Champion

Congratulations to Tasmanian Amy Cure who is once again a World Champion.

Amy is a great Tasmanian, she is excelling on the world stage and her achievements are inspirational.

Amy was a member of the Australian Women’s Team Pursuit team that won gold at the UCI Cycling Track World Championships in Paris France, this morning (Tasmanian Time).

The 22-year-old from Penguin, teamed up with fellow Australians Ashlee Ankudinoff (NSW), Annette Edmondson (SA) and Melissa Hoskins (WA) to win gold in a World Record Time of 4:13.683 to beat Great Britain in the final.

The time set by the Australians wiped almost three seconds off Great Britain’s former time of 4:16.552.

It is Amy’s second Senior World Championship after winning the Points Score title last year.

Amy and the Australian team will now set their sights on preparing for Olympic glory at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio next year.
