AMPUNI MERCY VIGILS TO BE HELD IN SYDNEY, MELBOURNE AND PERTH TOMORROW EVENING

#IStandForMercy

Tuesday, 17 February 2015: As time is running out for Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan and their execution in Indonesia becomes more and more likely, artists Ben Quilty and Matthew Sleeth have vowed to continue to fight for mercy for their friends with Ampuni (meaning Mercy) Vigils being held in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth this Wednesday evening, 18 February, 2015.

Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan have been in an Indonesian jail for almost 10 years and have profoundly changed their lives, now devoting their time to the rehabilitation of other prisoners. Over 178,000 people have signed the Mercy Campaign petition so far and many millions have voiced their disapproval of the planned executions of these two reformed men. There is still hope that Myuran and Andrew will be granted clemency and their death sentence commuted to life in prison.

Wednesday evening’s Vigils will give members of the public an opportunity to unite together in a show of solidarity and support for Andrew and Myuran and their families.

The Vigils will include guest speakers and musicians all supporting mercycampaign.org’s #IStandForMercy message.
