Ambulance workers deserve answers from Liberal Government

Posted on

The Liberal Government must explain why it’s picking and choosing when to take notice of a ruling from the Industrial Commission.

Labor’s Spokesperson for Workplace Relations, Michelle O’Byrne, says Tasmanian paramedics and ambulance officers have a right to be scratching their heads.

“Labor welcomes the Government’s decision when it comes to doctors but it’s cold comfort for paramedics waiting for a pay increase,” Ms O’Byrne said.

“The Liberals must explain the inconsistency.

“Ignoring the ruling of an independent umpire is a dangerous precedent for the Government to set.

“Ambulance workers perform critical work in our community and deserve to be paid appropriately.

“Workers are rightly angry at the way the Liberals have handled this situation and deserve better treatment.”
