For release – Friday, 30 January, 2015: In one of Oz Rock’s best kept secrets, the legendary COLD CHISEL, today announced details of an intimate, ‘one off’ show in Canberra.
The iconic band will hit Canberra’s Royal Theatre on Thursday, 26 February, 2015. Tickets for this special gig will go on sale next Monday to members of the band’s mailing list and Tuesday to the General Public.
This date at ‘The Royal’ will be COLD CHISEL’S first Australian show in nearly 3 years and their first ACT visit since their sold out show at the – much bigger – AIS in 2011.
“There’s a great energy about really seeing the whites of people’s eyes at gigs like this”, says the band’s frontman, Jimmy Barnes. “It’s always that bit more intense.”
“We’re looking forward to playing at the Royal Theatre”, said piano player Don Walker. “We’re thinking of dedicating the show to Prince Phillip, who really doesn’t get enough recognition.”
Since news of the band’s headline appearance at this year’s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on 1 March, COLD CHISEL fans have been eagerly awaiting details of more gigs but it turns out that this will be their one and only show this time around. The week after Clipsal, they will return to the studio for more work on a new album that is pencilled for late 2015.
Fans can expect the Royal Theatre setlist will be one of COLD CHISEL’s longest yet with the band likely to try out some new tunes as well as classics like Khe Sanh, Bow River, You Got Nothin’ I Want, My Baby, Forever Now and Flame Trees.
Tickets to the Canberra Royal Theatre warm up show will go on sale to the general public at 10.00am on Tuesday, 3 February, 2015 with a Cold Chisel mailing-list pre-sale available from 10:00am on Monday, 2 February, 2015.
