The Anti-Discrimination Commissioner has released a Discussion Paper on the annulment of historic convictions for consensual sexual activity between adult males.

“The Greens welcome the Discussion Paper, and call for these convictions to be annulled,” said Greens Justice spokesperson Nick McKim MP.

“There are many people living with the legacy of these convictions and I’m some cases their lives are still being impacted today.”

“Consenting sexual activity between adult males has quite rightly not been a crime in Tasmania for many years, and it is time for convictions from that era to be struck from the record.”

“I encourage people to read and make submissions on the discussion paper,” Mr McKim said.
