Resources Minister, Paul Harriss, has been dealt a severe blow to his credibility with his extremist anti-protest Bill left gutted and unworkable by the Legislative Council, Greens Justice spokesperson Nick McKim MP said today.

“If this is a victory for Paul Harriss, a defeat would look very messy indeed,” Mr McKim said.

“However we agree with Mr Harriss that this is an historic day, because Tasmania has rarely before seen a Minister display such incompetence across a range of areas so soon after being appointed.”

“This Bill was unnecessary in the first place, it was a mess when it left the Lower House and it is now an unworkable shambles.”

“The responsible course of action for Mr Harriss now is to admit he got it badly wrong and withdraw this Bill,” Mr McKim said.
