Our produce, place and people will be on show when the world arrives to sample the very best our state has to offer at Restaurant Australia’s Invite the World to Dinner event next month.

Around 80 of the world’s most influential food and wine personalities will be joining us for dinner, and will share their experience with a global audience of more than 400 million.

This is an incredible opportunity to showcase everything our state is renowned for; fresh produce; great wine; pristine surrounds; and, friendly people.

The world’s best deserve world class service, which is why 85 local service staff are being trained by the leaders in Australia’s hospitality industry.

The waiters, bar-staff and runners will today be instructed by Kylie Ball, General Manager at Quay restaurant, Tom Sykes, Training and Development Manager for the Rockpool Group, and Sebastian Crowther, Head Sommelier at Rockpool, Sydney.
The workshops provide a unique opportunity for local hospitality trainees and experienced service workers to gain insight and knowledge of their trade from our country’s very best.

This will create an enduring legacy for our hospitality industry, with the workshop’s participants taking these new skills and knowledge back to restaurants, cafes, hotels and bars across our state.

The Liberal Government through Skills Tasmania is funding this event, which is being delivered in collaboration with Tourism Tasmania, the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, Tourism Australia and MONA.

It is testament to Tasmania’s reputation for world class food and wine that we have been chosen to host Tourism Australia’s gala dinner.

The Liberal Government is committed to investing in our competitive strengths, including tourism.

Events like Invite the World to Dinner will help reach our target of attracting 1.5 million visitors to our state each year by 2020.
Will Hodgman, Premier Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
