The Shadow Minister for IT and Innovation, Madeleine Ogilvie, has called on Premier Will Hodgman to provide an update on the future of jobs at the Qantas Contact Centre.
Ms Ogilvie said reports that just 11 people are heading to Tasmania to take up work is disappointing.
“Will Hodgman needs to explain what he’s doing to secure a greater economic benefit for the State,” Ms Ogilvie said.
“The Liberals have been very underwhelming when it comes to stimulating employment in the private sector.
“Our contact centre service capability is a key advantage for Tasmania, and is important for our digital economic future.
“My vision for a big, bold and vibrant digital economy in Tasmania has people and skills at its core.
“The Premier needs to show urgency and guarantee the opportunity associated with the Qantas Contact Centre is maximised.”
