Regardless of the Government’s final decision over the Triabunna mill site, damage has already been done.

Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon says the Liberal Government has tarnished Tasmania’s reputation when it comes to attracting investment.

“Refusing to meet with Graeme Wood on top of failing to rule out compulsory acquisition is completely the wrong signal to be sending out,” Mr Bacon said.

“Potential investors will be scratching their heads over the way the Liberal Government has handled this situation.

“I’m very pleased Graeme Wood is standing firm and pushing on with plans to develop at Triabunna, despite the lack of certainty from the Premier.

“But regardless of the final outcome at Triabunna, damage has already been done. Other investors might not be as patient as Mr Wood.

“The Government’s behaviour is completely at odds with its ‘open for business’ mantra.

“We’ve got a cashed up investor ready to inject a huge amount into Tasmania’s economy and the Liberals are treating him with disdain.”
