Labor Leader Bryan Green today called on Premier Will Hodgman to detail what impact the $400 million worth of promises he made at the last election are having on the State Budget.

“The Tasmanian Budget is a mess of the Liberals’ own making because they knew their big spending election promises were not affordable,” Mr Green said.

“It’s time the Government took responsibility for its political largesse and the budget mess it has created.

“Will Hodgman and Peter Gutwein are trying to blame everyone else when the fact is they are cutting jobs and vital public services to pay for their election promises.

“The Liberals should finally admit they over promised to Tasmanian voters in order to get elected.

“What Tasmanians are seeing now is a government willing to put its own political survival ahead of good governance and responsible management of the budget.”
