Officially declared the largest ever crowd funding campaign for an Australian charity!

#gethelp #getonthebandwagon #givehelp

For release: Monday, 13 October, 2014: Support Act are thrilled and humbled to announce that they have exceeded all expectations with their Pozible fundraising campaign, Bandwagon, raising a massive $145,069 in just 30 days.

The campaign got off to a flying start when just moments after the star-studded launch in Melbourne, the Golden Nugget Package, consisting of a brand new Hyundai i20 and a $10 000 voucher donated by Allans Billy Hyde, was snapped up by the good folk from new Sydney broadcast and creative facility for the entertainment industry, The X Studio.

From that moment on the wheels were set in motion with pledgers picking up some extraordinary experiences including a personalised birthday message from Tina Arena, a fireside chat with music industry legend Michael Chugg, a ticket package from Frontier Touring, a production package with renowned Sydney producer Louis Schoorl and an intimate private performance from Megan Washington over dinner at Rockpool Bar & Grill just to name a few.

With two days remaining to reach the $100 000 target, the tally ticked over the magic mark and with all pledges then officially accepted the generosity kicked in to over drive with last minute pledges taking the proceeds well beyond expectations.

Chief Executive of Support Act, Joanna Cave, said today “We are delighted to have exceeded our target. The generosity shown by the community will enable us to deliver more help to music professionals in crisis”

Bandwagon was a crowd funding appeal via the platform Pozible, with the aim of raising $100,000 for Australia’s music industry charity. Reaching the target officially crowd-funded campaign will be the biggest of its kind for an Australian charity.

Support Act is a charity, unique in Australia, providing financial relief to music professionals facing illness, injury or some other life crisis. Support Act helps music professionals in all fields of the industry including singers, songwriters, composers, musicians, roadies, techies, managers, lighting techs and everyone in between.

Sadly, with so few safety nets available to people working in the music industry, demand for Support Act’s services is rising dramatically and has increased by 500% in the last year alone. Support Act receives no money from the government and must raise every dollar it needs to run its vital services.

Support Act collaborated with a broad range of music stars, music industry personalities and venues on Bandwagon to offer one-off ‘money can’t buy’ experiences and ‘limited edition’ products.

The unique rewards on offer were designed to provide extraordinary experiences for music fans and career development opportunities for those seeking a career in music. Money simply cannot buy a phone call on your birthday from your favourite artist, or an opportunity to have your song professionally produced and reviewed by the hottest names in the industry.

All the money raised from the campaign will be used by Support Act to help people in crisis.

Artists featured in the full campaign video (see http://pozi.be/bandwagon) include Support Act service users Neill Duncan and Peter Black, alongside Sheppard, Urthboy, The Potbelleez, Marcia Hines, Jimmy Barnes, Kav Temperley and Support Act’s Lindy Morrison.
