QUEENSTOWN HERITAGE AND ARTS FESTIVAL
RETURNING 10-12 OCTOBER
URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
The multi award winning Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival returns October 10-12 with a fascinating program of arts, cultural and heritage events.
As part of facilitating the 2014 program, festival organiser’s are calling for volunteers.
Volunteers work in two hour time slots across the festival weekend. They may be welcoming visitors at an exhibition, giving directions, assisting with set up and pack up, surveying visitors and manning the information booth.
“The last Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival was held in 2012, it featured 57 unique events running across three very full days. 92 volunteers assisted us to bring an award winning cultural festival to Queenstown, and this year our program is bigger and better”
Interested persons are invited to attend a volunteer meeting at Queenstown on Monday 6th October, 5pm at the RSL Club. Those people interested in volunteering can also submit their details online ( http://bit.ly/qhaf_volunteer_form ) or contact the organiser’s via Facebook ( www.facebook.com/queenstownheritageartsfestival )
• LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOPS
The Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival is looking for people to participate in lantern making workshops at St Joseph’s Primary School in Queenstown during the school holidays. Participants will create imaginative sculptural lanterns and be invited to carry the lanterns in the Angel of the WestOpening Ceremony for the festival on Friday 10th October.
As the opening act of the festival weekend, the Angel of the West will be an uplifting community event encompassing lanterns, choirs and symbolic imagery that aims to raise hopes and focus upon a ‘new beginning’ as created by the participating community.
The workshops will be facilitated by Annie Brennan, who has worked with communities to produce stunning illuminated lanterns for the 2012 Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival, as well as the Chocolate Winterfest in Latrobe and New Year’s Eve celebrations in Devonport.
Free one day workshops will be held on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of October, from 10am until 4pm each day.
