… to conduct lantern-making workshops for opening ceremony, ‘The Angel of the West’
The Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival is looking for people to participate in lantern making workshops at St Joseph’s Primary School in Queenstown during the school holidays. Participants will create imaginative sculptural lanterns and be invited to carry the lanterns in the Angel of the WestOpening Ceremony for the festival on Friday 10th October.
As the opening act of the festival weekend, the Angel of the West will be an uplifting community event encompassing lanterns, choirs and symbolic imagery that aims to raise hopes and focus upon a ‘new beginning’ as created by the participating community.
The workshops will be facilitated by Annie Brennan, who has worked with communities to produce stunning illuminated lanterns for the 2012 Queenstown Heritage and Arts Festival, as well as the Chocolate Winterfest in Latrobe and New Year’s Eve celebrations in Devonport.
Free one day workshops will be held on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of October, from 10am until 4pm each day.
Spaces are limited so interested people must register in order to participate. Everyone is welcome. Participants 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
