In an extraordinary move in the Legislative Council tonight Labor has again proven that they are anti-worker.

Labor had a chance to move the anti-workplace invasion bill to the committee, with Labor’s Craig Farrell used his vote to knock back the referral.

Consideration by the Committee would have allowed the Bill to be properly understood, and for the community’s concerns to be addressed.

Just last month Labor Leader Bryan Green supported the bill going to committee saying it ensured the public’s “voice is heard”.*

Labor have also claimed that they will support the bill if it is “improved” – we now know this to be false.

Obviously Labor has no interest in what the community has to say, or protecting workers rights.

They’ve proven no matter what changes are made, they will not support the bill, or Tasmanian workers.

The Government remains committed to bringing the bill on for debate following the budget session, as planned.
