The Liberal Government is taking action to save Tasmanian taxpayers money in the long-term.

As is to be expected when there is a change in Government there have been a number of necessary office relocations and renovations.

The one-off cost of these changes is $205,424 and includes:

• Establishing two new Ministerial Offices, one at the Reserve Bank Building and the other in Devonport to create a northern office for the Deputy Premier;
• A number of electorate officers were either closed or established to reflect changes in our elected representatives;
• Minor renovations of Level 10 of the Executive Building to accommodate three Ministers and a Parliamentary Secretary;
• Minor renovations of Level 11 of the Executive Building to accommodate the Tasmanian Government Media Office;
• Minor works to make the Reserve Bank Building ministerial tenancy fit for purpose; and
• Establishing four new electorate offices with one still to be established.

The one-off cost of these changes is well and truly covered by the ongoing savings they generate of $224,470 every year.

These ongoing savings effectively paid for the one-off cost of necessary renovations resulting from these changes.
