Dear Sir,
I am writing to protest against the killing of more than 1,000 civilians – mainly women and children in Gaza – by the Israeli armed forces.
Australia bears some responsibility for this because we are a close ally of the United States and the United States funds the Israeli military and has the influence and probably the power to bring a quick end to the massacre in Gaza.
The massacre of women and children has become so traumatic that even hardened United Nations’ refugee workers are reduced to tears.
The claim by Israel that it is defending itself cannot be sustained as it has killed children playing on a beach where it was obvious they were children … and has included shelling a United Nations school where women and children had sought refuge.
Young children are not terrorists firing rockets upon Israel.
Nor can they sensibly be claimed to be active members of Hamas.
For every Israeli killed or injured by any act of violence by armed Palestinian groups more than 100 Palestinians are killed and most of them are women and children.
If Hamas is a terrorist organisation then the state of Israel has become a terrorist state.
So Australia should use its influence with the United States to bring an end to the massacre in Gaza.
In my opinion, for about the past 15 to 20 years, Israel has been the aggressor in the Palestinian conflict.
It is Israel who has been doing the invading and conducting the large-scale massacres starting with the massacre by its “Christian?? allies” in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli state is continuing to evict Arabs from homes in Jerusalem and build more settlements on the West Bank. It has walled itself off from its Palestinian neighbours and has built a network of Israeli highways linking the settlements.
It is hard to believe that Israel wants any solution to the conflict, let alone a two-state solution, as it is indulging in a gradual act of ethnic cleansing and a slow massacre of Palestinian woman and children.
It is profoundly depressing that people of Jewish decent should acquiesce in the large-scale killing of women and children.
I have always found it hard to understand how anybody could be so cruel as to send Jewish children to the gas chambers in the Nazi concentration camps.
It is profoundly depressing that the Israeli government are now bombing and shelling children. All people of good conscience must call for an end to this killing and pressurise the Australian government to pressurise the United States to stop funding Israel.
Even more depressing is the butchery by ISIS or whatever they call themselves in Iraq.
Obviously ruthless, crazed psychopaths.
What it reminds me of is American’s boast that they would bomb Indo-China into the Stone Age.
They didn’t quite succeed in that but they managed to bomb the Cambodians into the lunatic asylum and produce the Khmer Rouge.
Decades of killing Palestinian children, Iraqi children, encouraging Iraq to attack Iran, continuing drone strikes on Muslims in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Yemen (which inevitably kill women and children) only adds to the sense of outrage and the desire for revenge; and perhaps it’s no surprise that crazed psychopaths have now emerged from the carnage in Syria to occupy much of Iraq.
The activities of America’s boy in Iraq, Nouri al-Maliki, in alienating the large Sunni majority didn’t help.
One can’t solely blame America, the Islamists are free agents and don’t have to resort to appalling violence … but the Americans bear substantial blame.
I am old enough to remember Colonel Nasser, the Dictator of Egypt, who took the Suez Canal away from the Brits and their allies.
The newsreels of Cairo showed a city where the women were bare headed and Arab nationalism was a modernising force.
It didn’t suit Western oil companies so it got destroyed and the end result was to drive the Islamic cultures of the Middle East into an implosion which runs back to their past and produces appallingly psychopathic violence; it reminds me of what happened to the SIOUX Indian tribe when being exterminated by the American military.
They went back to their past and a Shaman claimed he had spoken to Christ and they were all going to be bulletproof and would beat the Americans by performing a ghost dance and wearing a ghost shirt.
Like most religious theories it was all a load of bull and the SIOUX were massacred.
There are too many Muslins to exterminate … so itmight be wise if the Americans stopped trying to bomb and kill their children; that might actually reduce the amount of psychopathic behaviour.
There is no reason to believe that America’s third invasion of Iraq would be any more successful than the first two.
Abbott is running a scare campaign to distract attention from his nasty mean budget.
ISIS is thousands of kilometres away and is no threat to Australia.
