Tasmanian poet and carer of a loved one with mental illness, Crystal Davis, has a heart-warming, honest and evocative literary voice that will resonate and touch most of us in some way. Crystal’s strong message on the importance of creative self expression for positive mental health is a vital one.
Her words are supported by the simple and powerful line drawings of Canberra artist Kylie Fogarty, who produced her works directly from her impressions of the poetry. Interestingly, this book was completely developed via email, with the two artists never meeting until the final draft was in print – adding to the intrigue.
With complimentary reviews and articles in The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and a full page The Canberra Times Arts liftout, as well as live radio interviews on ABC during the Canberra launch of the book in May, this launch creates a wonderful opportunity to support a local artist’s positive message.
