AUSTRALIA – NATIONAL – September 30, 2014 – Sixty talented Australian amateur singers will take to the stage this weekend to vie for the chance to represent Australia on the world stage.
After six months of national trials, the final ten will be left standing for the final round in the Australian National Grand Final of the Karaoke World Championships. The winner will represent Australia at the world finals to be held in Stockholm, Sweden from November 13 – 15.
Now in its 11th year and originating in Finland, the Karaoke World Championships is the world’s most exciting amateur singing event. This year, the event has featured in 28 different countries worldwide.
Music student and sales assistant, Danielle Faour, 22 from Victoria will be joined onstage by Jacinta Snajdar, 28 (ACT), Heath Gambarotto, 32 (SA), Kat Thurley, 27 (Nth QLD), Angelica Angeles, 18 (NSW), Tracy Peduto, 41 (Far West NSW), Leh Soo, 25 (WA) and Kristoffer Rann, 27 (NT). Regional NSW State Finalist, Kieran Fraser, 41 will again chase the dream in his third attempt at winning the Australian National Grand Final (he has been the runner up twice before).
Queensland’s representative will be announced immediately before the Australian National Grand Final after 50 contestants from around the state take to the stage in the afternoon to show they have what it takes.
Australia’s 2012 Champion and World Final runner up, Candice Skjonnemand, will also perform songs from a new crowd funded EP she is releasing after her appearance on The Voice earlier this year.
Australia has proudly claimed the international title a record three times, sharing the record with Lebanon and proving that Australians are a forced to be reckoned with on the world karaoke stage.
