The August 28 budget will deliver on our promises, fix the Labor-Green mess and lay the foundations for the future.

Today we continue to deliver on our election commitment to rebuild frontline health services by offering 10 additional nursing graduate positions above the normal intake.

Last year 115 positions were offered – this year that number will climb to 125 positions.

The Liberal Government is providing $5.4 million in extra funding over the next four years for additional Transition to Practice Placements for nursing graduates.

This will enable up to 85 additional graduate nurses in addition to normal recruitment levels over the next four years.

The positions are being offered across the North, North West and South, commencing in early 2015.

Graduating students can apply for positions online until August 22 2014.

Information sessions have already been held in Hobart, Latrobe and Burnie, and a further session is scheduled at the Launceston General Hospital on August 15.

We are delivering on our election commitment to rebuild frontline services and we are laying the foundations for a long term health system which puts the needs of patients back where they belong – at the forefront of every decision.
