Tasmanians will feel the pain of hidden cuts in the Liberal Government’s first Budget.
Labor Leader Bryan Green described the budget as tricky and misleading.
“There is precious little detail on how the Government will achieve the $744 million savings it is forecasting in the budget,” Mr Green said.
“The devil will certainly be in the detail of this budget.
“What we know already is that Peter Gutwein is trying to portray himself as the White Knight, riding in and saving jobs when nothing could be further from the truth.
“The reality is the Liberals will axe 700 jobs and impose cuts across Government departments.
“They are also cutting peoples’ wages and cannot rule out even more job losses.
“The Liberals have been on a spending frenzy and now Tasmanian workers are paying for it.
“Above all else this Budget is about forcing Tasmanians to pay for their extravagant election promises.”
