The world’s biggest little play festival hits Hobart
Playhouse Theatre Sept 30 – Oct 11
The first “Short +Sweet, Hobart” Program is ready to launch showcasing local writers, directors + actors. With 10/30 plays being TASMANIAN WORKS it is the biggest showcase of Tasmanian Writers seen in any one festival. The festival is also attracting attention from the mainland with NSW and Victorian entries. None of the plays have ever been seen in Hobart.
On at The Playhouse Theatre in September/October, Short + Sweet, Hobart 2014 is not just another one act play festival…. There are 30 ten minute plays spread over 3 programs. Program 1 Opens 7.30 Sept 30 – Oct 3 Program 2: Sat 4th Oct @ 2.30+7.30pm and Program 3 Oct 7-11 7.30pm we finish the festival with the “GALA PREVIEW” on Sat 11th @2.30pm and the “GALA SHOWCASE with Award and Prize Presentations comprising of the judges and people choices from all programs at 7.30pm
The Short + Sweet theatre festival began in Sydney 13 years ago and their recent festival showcased 170 plays. “S+S festivals occur in 22 cities in 7 countries around the world and all play submissions are included in the 2014 S+S library for production in any festival around the world” Peck says “The opportunities are enormous.”
