The Glenorchy Community Bank Project Committee with Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie MP, will tomorrow launch the “Grow Glenorchy Jobs Project” – a project to recognise and acknowledge employment opportunities in Glenorchy and celebrate those businesses who are doing well an offering new employment opportunities in tough economic times.
Glenorchy Community Bank Project Committee Chairman Kristie Johnston said “We are very proud to be launching this project. It is all too easy to dwell on negative economic and business news but we want to recognise and celebrate those businesses in our community who are maintaining optimism, doing well and employing locals. I believe it is time to give them a big pat on the back and say how proud we are of them. The Grow Glenorchy Jobs Project gives businesses the opportunity to receive recognition for being an employer in the Municipality of Glenorchy through our partnership with the Glenorchy Gazette. The Glenorchy Community Bank Project understands that businesses are finding it tough and we want to be there to support them”.
Mrs Johnston said “We hope that by establishing our very own Glenorchy Community Bank we can grow this project even more and establish a business development incubator as a resource for the business sector and a driver for local economic growth. This is what community banks are all about – investing back into the community and the local economy”.
“We are very also excited to sponsor the City of Glenorchy Excellence Awards as another way of acknowledging and supporting businesses and outstanding employees, trainees, and apprentices”.
Kristie Johnston urged the Glenorchy community to get behind local businesses and support the Community Bank Project.
