I congratulate the Lark Distillery founders Bill and Lyn Lark on winning the Tesltra Tasmanian Business of the Year award.

The Larks have put Tasmania on the world map as a world class whisky producer, winning international acclaim for their single malt whisky.

Creating a high quality, high value product from a small-scale production sets a business model for Tasmania’s burgeoning food and beverage industry to follow.

The Lark Distillery was also awarded the Small Business Award. With a workforce of 18 they are another example of Tasmanian businesses punching above their weight.
I congratulate other winners including:

• Your Path to Health, Start-Up Award;

• Handbuilt Creative, Micro Business Award;

• Stornoway, Medium Business Award and Regional Award;

The Liberal Government is committed to making it easier to do business in Tasmania and creating jobs.

We have abolished headworks charges, introduced a Buy Local Policy, we’re cutting red and green tape and creating a single state-wide planning scheme.

We’re getting on with the job of rebuilding our economy and delivering our long-term plan for Tasmania.
