With just a few weeks left to submit nominations in the Australian of the Year Awards, now is the time for Tasmanians to consider recommending someone they believe makes our state and country a better place.

Whether a friend, family member, community leader or colleague, the Awards are a chance to nominate someone who otherwise might not get recognition in the community for the contribution they make.

Being nominated for the Australian of the Year Awards is a great honour and offers the nominee a unique platform to further their important work.

Categories include:

• Australian of the Year;
• Senior Australian of the Year (60 years and over);
• Young Australian of the Year; (16 – 30 years); or
• Australia’s Local Hero

Nominations can be made online at www.australianoftheyear.org.au or via a nomination form available from any branch of major sponsor, the Commonwealth Bank.
Nominations close Friday 1 August 2014.

*Ms Archer was joined at the call for nominations today by the 2014 Senior Australian of the Year (TAS) Christina Henri and her nominator Julie Henderson, as well as current nominee for the 2015 awards, Tegan Nadler.
