The Liberal Government promised Tasmanians it would rip up Labor and the Greens jobs destroying forest deal.

That is what we have done with the passage of the Forestry (Rebuilding the Forest Industry) Bill 2014 through the House of Assembly today.

Labor, in contrast, by voting against the Bill have proved that they remain glued at the hip to the Greens, and the Leader of the Opposition has confirmed he is Green by name, Green by nature.

Despite their resounding defeat at the March election Labor and the Greens have neither listened nor learned.

Labor and the Greens have ignored the will of Tasmanians and attempted to block the Forestry (Rebuilding the Forest Industry) Bill which rips up this unpopular jobs destroying deal.

Through filibuster, tricky but ultimately futile amendments, delays and other attempts to frustrate, Labor and the Greens have voted against the legislation that will rebuild our forestry communities.

The Liberals are committed to rebuilding our forestry industry and creating jobs. Labor still haven’t learned the lesson of their election defeat.
