Dry July is an annual event that challenges people to go without alcohol for a month in order to raise money through sponsorship, to support adults living with cancer.
I am excited to take part in Dry July as an Ambassador for the Cancer Council of Tasmania, which is a beneficiary of this national charity fundraiser for the first time.
This means all money raised will stay in the state to help the outstanding not-for-profit organisation continue to deliver vital support and services to Tasmanian cancer patients and their families.
While light-hearted on the surface, Dry July evolved out of the awful reality that cancer has touched the entire community, whether personally or through a family member, friend or colleague.
On average, eight Tasmanians are diagnosed with cancer each day, making the work the Cancer Council of Tasmania does vital to the health of the community.
Go alcohol-free for the month of July or sponsor a Dry July participant to help make a difference.
