The Liberal Plan for TT-Line is all about more tourists, cheaper fares and more jobs.

By refurbishing the ships facilities and increasing the seating capacity on each vessel, and putting in place additional day sailings, passenger capacity on the TT-Line would be significantly increased, which would allow for more visitors, and lower fares.

The Government has confirmed that the TT-Line will be required to demonstrate there will be no loss of service for freight customers on the TT-Line vessels.

We rejected the former Government’s plan for two new freight ships because we don’t believe it’s the Government’s role to intervene in the private sector on freight more than it already is.

Now that the Government has removed the uncertainty imposed by the previous Labor-Green Government’s inability to make a decision on this matter, we expect the private sector to move to cater for any increased demand. Existing freight services have already publicly indicated this to be the case.

The planned refurbishment of the two ships will happen consecutively and will be timed when demand is at its lowest level. Temporary measures will be put in place to ensure that the TT-Line’s existing freight capacity isn’t compromised.
