In a Tasmanian first, Baskerville Raceway will see two racing nemeses going head to head, as classic circuit and
drift drivers settle the long-held rivalry once and for all as part of the celebrations for the Hobart Sporting Car
Club’s (HSCC) 60th anniversary this weekend.
HSCC President, Peter Killick, said although both disciplines of motorsport generally competed at separate
events, it was only appropriate that all members celebrated the club’s milestone together.
“There has always been a grudge between the drifters and the classic drivers, which each believing their form
of racing to be the most superior,” Mr Killick said.
“To put it in perspective, imagine a classic driver racing a vintage Austin Martin one minute, and a young revhead
in his fitted-out Nissan Skyline racing around the track the next.
“The race meet will also raise funds to support the Baskerville Foundation, which was set up in 2012 with the
aim of securing the future of Baskerville Raceway, which currently requires major renovations in order to
survive.”
The two day festivities kick off on Saturday, 5 April with racing commencing at 12.30pm and conclude on
Sunday, 6 April.
Admission is $15 per person for both days and under 12 entry is free.
