The music of Alma da Vida is a collaboration of three fine Tasmanian based musicians. Described as world music, the trio start in Spain and take audiences on a musical journey through Africa, Eastern Europe, Cuba, the Middle East and Latin America.

Their performance will draw on the flamenco and Spanish guitar style of Paul Gerard; the world music and jazz grooves of percussionist Jules Witek; and the inventive bass of Nigel Hope – all creating a style the trio describe as “Spanish fusion”.

Spanish music is very much about spontaneity at the time it is played and rarely are two pieces ever performed the same twice. While Spanish music may differ with the mood of the performers, it will always have one element in common – emotion.

Alma da Vida promises to deliver a concert program which is both an expression of themselves and something memorable for the audience to take with them.

As a prelude to the Moonah Taste of the World Festival, this is a great way for world music lovers to kick off their weekend.
