The musical comedy supergroup that is Perfect Tripod (Eddie Perfect and Tripod) are crossing the Bass Strait to bring their acclaimed show Australian Songs to the Theatre Royal, Hobart on Friday 6 June – Saturday 7 June 2014.
Combining comedy scene favourites Tripod with the vocal and arranging skills of showbiz powerhouse Eddie Perfect, Perfect Tripod have struck a chord with Australian audiences – bringing humour and heart to clever renditions of iconic Aussie tunes from artists including Gotye, Men at Work, Kylie Minogue, the Bee Gees to Clare Bowditch, Cold Chisel, John Farnham and more.
The group first performed their special arrangement of Paul Kelly’s Meet Me in the Middle of the Air at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Famous Spiegeltent in 2011 as a bit of a party piece. Further TV invitations to reprise the song on the 2011 Logies and ABC TV’s Sideshow prompted Kelly himself to call their four-part a cappella version “stunning”.
Born from that creative seed, the group blossomed into a slick harmony-pop act that toured nationally in 2013, enjoying full houses and rave reviews in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. Off the back of their successful tour, the group released an album in August 2013 called Perfect Tripod Australian Songs which earned them Album of the Week on ABC’s Radio National.
Heading to Hobart, for the first time ever, at the Theatre Royal – Perfect Tripod Australian Songs 2014 promises their signature blend of heartfelt harmonies and highly-complex arrangements spread across all the familiar favourites plus some sublime new inclusions.
